| Company portrayal
Maritime products for the shipbuilding industry, such as deck cranes, winches and steering gear units of various sizes, formed the main world-wide business
field of our traditional company for almost 60 years. Founded in 1948, the company operated nationally and internationally under the name KGW Schweriner
Maschinenbau GmbH until November 2006. During this period, our company developed successfully from a manufacturer of single pieces of machinery to a supplier of entire systems.
In the year 1993, the maritime manufacturing and business activities were extended by the production of completely assembled tubular steel towers for wind power plants,
thus introducing the environmental and energy generating field. In this connection, various detail solutions based on long-time experience acquired from the maritime
products, are used in the tower production. Today, tubular steel towers for wind power plants form the core business of KGW Schweriner Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH, which
has gained a reputable name in both the maritime sector and the renewable energies market.
The long-time experience in the maritime field has turned out to be especially advantageous for the manufacture of towers for offshore applications, whether regarding steels
to be used, special welding procedures to be implemented, or preservation methods for the continuous impact of the humid sea air with a high salt content.
Moreover, a comprehensive machine outfit and an outstanding know-how in mechanical engineering provide a solid basis for the production of machines and plants, even of special designs, on customer orders.
KGW's Quality Management System has been certified by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance in accordance with DIN ISO 9001:2000 since March 1992.
